The Gibbes Museum of Art is offering for auction 12 miniature rooms that have been on display in a gallery on the first floor since the 1980s. 'As part of an ongoing reconsideration of our holdings, the museum board determined that the miniature rooms no longer fit the collecting mission of the museum, which is to acquire the best art related to Charleston, the Lowcountry and the American South,' Todd Smith, executive director of the Gibbes, said.
